  • Who can Play?

Teams MUST be present at time of drawing to compete.

These teams will be made up of individuals who are currently employed by the State Association, board members of the State Association, or individuals who are employees or board members of a rural or municipal water/wastewater system that is a current member of the State Rural Water Association.

  • Elimination Rounds

The elimination rounds will consist of 3 rounds of match play to determine the winner. Each match will begin with one individual from each team stepping to the front counter for a “face-off” question, which will be asked by the MC, the first person to ring the buzzer and give a listed answer will have the option to pass or play. If the individual who buzzed first does not turn over an answer listed on the survey, the opposing player will be given a chance to answer, if their answer is among those on the board, then their team will be given the option to pass or play.  In the event neither individual answers a question that appears on the survey, the current question will be discarded, and another will be asked with same schedule as above until there is a correct answer given and game proceeds with one of the team’s starting. If the winner of the face-off chooses to pass on the round, the opposing team now has the chance to play first for the points of that round.

The option to play the round consists of the host asking the same question to each of the five members of the “playing” team. Each listed answer will result in the same question being asked to the next member of the team until all answers on the board have been given. If all the team’s answers are listed on the board and the board is “cleared” the team wins the match and moves on to the final game.

Any answer given that is not on the board will result in a “strike”. Three (3) non-listed answers results in three (3) strikes. When this occurs, the opposing team will get the chance to win the match by giving one (1) listed answer. This one answer can be collaborated by all members of the team. Once the final answer is decided upon by the team, one member of the team will give it to the host. If that answer is listed on the board, the team wins the match and moves on to the final game. If the answer is not on the board, the team loses the match and the opposing team wins and moves on to the final game.

The two teams left standing at the end of the single elimination bracket will compete in the final match during the Membership Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday at 12:00 pm.

  • Final Match & Bonus Round

The Match – The Match will begin with one individual from each team will step to the front counter for a “face-off” question, which will be asked by the MC, the first person to ring the buzzer and give a listed answer will have the option to pass or play. If the individual who buzzed first does not turn over an answer listed on the survey, the opposing player will be given a chance to answer, if their answer is among those on the board, then their team will be given the option to pass or play.  In the event neither individual answers a question that appears on the survey, the current question will be discarded, and another will be asked with same schedule as above until there is a correct answer given and game proceeds with one of the teams starting. If the winner of the faceoff chooses to pass on the round, the opposing team now has the chance to play first for the points of that round.

The option to play the round consists of the host asking the same question to each of the five members of the “playing” team. Each listed answer will result in the same question being asked to the next member of the team until all answers on the board have been given. If all the team’s answers are listed on the board and the board is “cleared” the team wins the round.

Any answer given that is not on the board will result in a “strike”. Three (3) non-listed answers results in three (3) strikes. When this occurs, the opposing team will get the chance to steal the points of that round by giving one (1) listed answer. This one answer can be collaborated by all members of the team. Once the final answer is decided upon by the team, one member of the team will give it to the host. If that answer is listed on the board, the team wins the points for that round. If the answer is not on the board, the team loses the round and the points for that round goes back to the opposing team.

This type of round play will continue until the time is up for the match. At this time, the points will be totaled, and the winning team will move on to the Bonus Round.

Bonus Round – The winning team of the Match will move to the Bonus Round. At this time, the winning team must select two (2) players who will represent the team in the lightning round. The first player will be escorted by the host to the middle of the gameplay area where they will be prepared to play. The second player will be escorted to an area backstage where they cannot see or hear the questions and answers given by the first player.

The first player will be given thirty (30) seconds to answer five (5) questions. Each answer will be listed on the board. Upon completing the five questions or the time running out, the point total of each answer will be revealed and totaled.

The second player will then be brought on stage, with their back to the board. They will be given thirty-five (35) seconds to answer the same five (5) questions. If the answer of the second player is a duplicate of the first players answer, the second player will hear a “buzzer” that indicates that they must give another answer. Upon completing the five questions or the time running out, the point total of each answer will be revealed and added to the total points for the team. If the combined point total of both team members reaches two-hundred (200), the team wins the prize for the bonus round.

The game is over at the end of the bonus round.

Entry deadline has passed.
